Writing cool CGI action sequences is trivial. Writing good excuses why those cool CGI action sequences take place in the movie is tricky. Writing a good story that holds together the cool CGI action sequences and their excuses, and that would be worth the while even without the cool CGI action sequences, that's our goal here. |

Welcome to new website of The Supergirl Movie Project. The delusional idea of this project is to get together all of us who want to see a Supergirl movie made (again), so we can all come up with a truly brilliant script that we can actually propose to whoever holds the right for a Supergirl movie. One thing I must make clear. The intention here is to write a Supergirl movie. THIS IS NOT A FETISH WEBSITE. Everything here is PG-13 at the most. |
What's new |
Dec-25-2009Over a year has passed since the last update. Not hard to guess that the whole let's-get-more-free-time-to-dedicate-it-to-the-website thing has failed miserably and isn't going to get better anytime soon. In fact, when the domain expires in September 2010, it's highly unlikely that I'll renew it.There's just one thing I plan to do before the website is finally shut down for good: a new web-based adventure game. The framework is only about half ready, but it works nicely. It's browser-based, so you won't have to download or install anything to play the game. It won't be an adventure in the style of We Don't Need Another Hero. I mean it won't be a Monkey Island™-style game but more of an Legend-style game, i.e., static backgrounds with emphasis on reading text rather than animations (think of games like Eric the Unready, Superhero League of Hoboken or Timequest). Oh, and unlike WDNAH, you get to fight a lot. I'm planning on uploading some sort of demo soon(ish). No plot there, just Supergirl wandering around a dungeon, encountering various monsters and kicking their butts. Nov-17-2008Yes, it's been this long since my last update. Too much time wasted trying to get enough money to eat and other silly stuff like that. But never mind. Something new is afoot. A new game. A silly game, but a new one nonetheless, so it's got that going for itself. It's called Supergirl vs Power Girl. They don't fight per se, they just arm wrestle. But they look pretty cool at it. Their hair looks stunning. I finally got the hang of hair on 3ds Max. May-17-2008Wow, first update in a while. Sorry about that. My day job gets in the way of my life. You guys know how it is...Anyway, small update. I added a couple of pages to the "When Giant Robots attack" Comic. I'll be adding more pages throughout the week. It's not like it's hard to do, it's just that I've been way too busy. Also, I changed the "Wallpapers" section for a Gallery section, which works entirely in javascript. I'll dump there all the old wallpapers and a handful of random images. So far there are only three new images, all of them are tests I've been doing lately. Oct-20-2007A couple of technical updates on the site. You probably won't even notice them unless you look really hard.Oh, and I added the Comics section. I've only posted the first 7 pages of the comic I'm working on. But at least it's something. I'll finish it, eh, sometime in the near future. Oct-08-2007Did anyone have any trouble watching the movies or looking at the wallpapers? Stupid error. Uploaded a file as UTF-8 when the server expected windows-1252 encoding. If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky. In other news, I uploaded another wallpaper. This one is the cover of my first CGI Supergirl comic. It's called "When giant robots attack." It's a two-part comic. The first part is called "We're gonna need a bigger hero." I swear it isn't a parody or anything. It's not supposed to be funny. Well, other than the titles it isn't supposed to be funny. It's supposed to be full of action. In fact, it's just 48 pages of continuous action. Well, you'll see it. Though I still haven't decided if I should post every page as soon as I finish it, or wait till I have at least a full 24-page issue. And should I post the pages as separate images? Should I create .cbz files? Decisions, decisions. Don't hold your breath, though. It's still gonna be a while before I finish anything. Oct-07-2007Wow, it's been really this long since I updated the site? Well, I got a new server (no more stupid ads!). I updated the Comics sales applet, and I added a new wallpaper. I'm working on a handful of things, and as usual, my biggest problem (besides my day job) is that I have so many ideas for the website that I never actually finish any of them.I'm planning to finish the Just A Girl animation at some point. I'm working on a Supergirl original comic. Two comics, actually. One is simply the comic book version of the unfinished "Giant" animation. I've already written most of it, but I still need to work on the giant robot. The other is a complex, multi-issue story, that was originally intended as a Movie Script but ended up being too long for it. This one requires a truckload of CGI characters so it's gonna be a while before I finish it. I'll probably post the story in script format first. And lastly, I'm working on a Java video game. It will be a simple, turn-based action game where Supergirl gets the chance to fight some weird enemies (the zombie from the "Monster" wallpaper is one of them). Feb-28-2007A nearly meaningful update. I added an Extras section. The only thing there right now is a small Java applet that shows a bunch of stats for comic book sales.I wrote it mostly because I'm working on something much bigger (a game) that requires Java and I wanted to get a feeling of how many people actually have Java installed on their computers. Sep-24-2006Wow, I haven't updated the website in a while. And I still won't. Luckily for me, I'm not the only one doing Supergirl fan films. Dan Nastro recently posted his soon-to-be-famous Supergirl fan film "Confessions of a teenage Supergirl" on Google video. I just finished watching it and I must say it's quite good. It's almost 34 minutes long, so there's plenty of Supergirl there. And it seems there will be plenty more to come, so stay tuned. |
May-30-2006I was bored, ergo wallpapers. Three of them. Enjoy. |
May-26-2006New animation. (Yeah, I still do those.) It's not quite complete yet. It's missing one scene (the best one, of course), and it has no music. You can find it at the Theater. |
May-14-2006An update in the Models section. Finally, the 3dsMax model is here. With textures and everything. Have fun. |
Apr-12-2006New feature: Supergirl Theater. It's just the same videos from the Movies page but using Flash to play the movies. The advantage is that you don't need any codecs and you can watch the movies without having to download them. The disadvantage is that it doesn't work on Linux (since it requires Flash 8.0) and that you can't download the movies. For the moment, I'll keep the movies in AVI format as well, just in case the theater breaks down. I've only encoded three videos ("Robot," "Knock, Knock," and "Trapped") so far, but if the feature turns out to be popular, I'll put everything there. |
Apr-04-2006I've been fooling around with 3dsMax 8 and I'm almost done with a fully functional Supergirl model. Still needs a bit of tweaking, though, but as soon as I'm done, I'll post it on the models page. The improvements include using 3dsMax's biped for the skeleton, which makes animations much easier than with the home-made Maya skeleton I was using. I redid the cape. More exactly, I redid the map of the cape, so now it has the yellow trim from the new outfit in the comics. She now has real boots and a real belt, rather than having those painted on the texture. The texture was redone, and now it's huge but looks stunning in close-ups. Her eyes now move and have an independent map of their own. The same helper that controls the heat vision also aims the eyes. And last, the hair now has a texture, though I'm still not happy with it. While I was testing the new model, I made a handful of wallpapers. I'll be making more of those (and a couple of test movies too) so stay tuned. Mar-05-2006What can I say? I was bored. I was playing around with Macromedia Flash. So I made a short game. It's called "Meteor Attack". It's an early beta, and it's kinda clumsy, but it's free, so enjoy it.
Feb-14-2006Small technical update. Some people were having trouble downloading the larger files because the server was closing the connection before the download was finished, so I redid some of the PHP code to solve that. The server might still stop the download halfway through, but now it's possible to resume downloads so if you're using a download accelerator/manager (or a decent browser) you shouldn't have trouble downloading the files, even if it takes half a dozen attempts to get the whole thing. Feb-07-2006It's been a long time since my last update. (I've been busy with my day job.) But here's something: I'm working on a new Supergirl game. It's still going to be a long while before it's finished, but I'll be posting previews, demos and screenshots while I finish it. Sep-25-2005Added a new section called In Production where I'm planning to dump all the stuff that isn't ready yet for the regular sections. Most of the stuff there will be either incomplete or unpolished or (most likely) both. So far I only have a handful of tests with TTS (text-to-speech), and a very early draft of a script I'll use in an upcoming fan film. Made a few changes to the Games page. Nothing meaningful. Only added a .zip version of the file for the prople who don't have Winrar. Sep-12-2005What's new? Well, a whole new domain name, a different look, and PDF versions of the scripts, but besides that, there's not much else that's truly new. However, I re-rendered the Robot animation using Poser 6, and now it has shadows, so it looks much better. I Also re-compressed some of the animations at 500kbps (they used to be 150 or 200kbps) so they're bigger and look a tad better. The good news is that I'm working on something. Several somethings actually. The two more important ones are the scripts for two fan-films I'm planning to produce. And I mean fan-films, you know, with dialogues and a plot, and a whole lot of cool action sequences. I'm going to post the scripts as soon as I complete a decent first draft. |
